The application process-you could do it alone, but why?

Once we agreed we needed to start "doing" and stop "talking" about teaching internationally, Randy and I started researching various organizations to help us find a job overseas. We chose Search Associates. These organizations, like Search Associates is like an agent for you to find the school that would be a good fit as well as a good fit for the school. They "assist thousands of teachers, administrators, counselors, librarians, and interns to find jobs in hundreds of quality international schools ...". (Search Associates, 2015) We were successful using this organization but there are other's out there such as ISS. You just need to do your own research and find the one that fits you and your needs. Search Associates was a perfect fit for us.

Search Associates application was straightforward and user friendly. We were able to post our resume (by the way, the last time I updated my resume was 15 years ago!!), a school picture of ourselves and a cover letter telling our story. A lot of schools like couples instead of single teachers therefore we did most of our application attached to each other. After we filled out the application and paid our money (about $250), we were online and assigned to a regional agent who helped us whenever we needed. Just make sure you are diligent and patient with them if issues arise. Now, we are ready to see those job postings from all over the world.

Typically schools posts jobs throughout the year but the majority comes between December and April. Through emails we would get announcements of jobs that are posted that match our qualifications. Randy got more than I did. I would say at least 1,000+ posts for a math position compared to mine of a total of ONE for Home Economics and that was in a small country in Africa. So I changed my qualification to Health (my minor). That got me a total of 20! I realized then, it would be on Randy to find a job and pray that something would be available for me as well.

Should you find international jobs on your own? You could but why? I would rather pay the money for a respected established organization to find jobs for us.  These jobs are in schools that are accredited, American based school system that have gone through a thorough application process. Randy and I KNOW we would not be able to find these schools on our own. We are truly thankful for these organizations.
